Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)

A Phase I ESA is a non-intrusive investigation of current Site conditions/operations, and a historical review of environmental records relating to the Site and surrounding area.

The purpose of a Phase 1 ESA is to identify any potential for environmental concern at or surrounding a specific property.

Phase II ESA

A Phase II ESA is an investigation to assess the areas of potential environmental concern (APEC) identified during the Phase I ESA.

The Phase II ESA typically consists of the advancement of boreholes via a drill rig or hand auger, in order to collect soil for laboratory analysis, and installment of groundwater monitoring wells to collect groundwater at the Site.

Phase III ESA/Remediation

A Phase III ESA is the remediation of contaminated material identified by the Phase II ESA.

There are several ways to clean up a contaminated Site, such as:

• Excavation and removal of contaminated material. Followed by the sampling of the walls and base of the excavation to confirm the contaminated soil as been removed, and clean fill material being brought to the site for back fill.
• Injection of chemical compounds or microbial slurries to react with the contaminants of potential concern (COPC) and break them down into non-harmful components.
• Extracting harmful vapors from monitoring wells at the Site, assisting in degradation of the COPC.
• Long term monitoring of groundwater at the Site, in order to track and compare concentrations of COPC over an extended period of time.

Soil Sampling/Test Pitting

Vista will perform a delineation program by advancing boreholes via drill rig or hand auger to accurately map the vertical and horizontal extent of the plume, and then remove the contaminated material from the Site for disposal.

Following removal, Vista will source clean fill material to back fill the pit, and recontour it to match the surrounding grade.

Groundwater Monitoring/Sampling

Have Vista sample your storm pond, drainage ditch, or existing groundwater monitoring wells to set a baseline for concentration of COPC.

Vista will perform a delineation program by advancing boreholes via drill rig or hand auger to accurately map the vertical and horizontal extent of the plume, and then remove the contaminated material from the Site for disposal.
